Bronze

Ages 8 and Under

The Bronze Group is designed as an introduction to competitive swimming. Practices will focus on learning the mechanics of all four competitive strokes and introduce the fundamentals of endurance and racing. Swimmers are expected to swim 50 yards continuously of freestyle and backstroke. 

   Practices Offered: 4 per week

   Suggested Attendance: 3 per typical week

Silver

Ages 9-11

The Silver Group is designed to advance swimmers’ abilities as they develop into competitive swimmers. Practices will focus on refining technique for all four competitive strokes, turns, and starts. Swimmers will continue to build upon their endurance base and racing skills. Swimmers are expected to be able to swim 100 yards continuously of freestyle, and 50 yards of backstroke, breaststroke, or butterfly with proper technique.

   Practices Offered: 4 per week

   Suggested Attendance: 3 per typical week

GOLD

Ages 11-14

The Gold Group is designed for swimmers who are committed to further developing their skills with the goal of ultimately moving into the Elite program. Practices will have a primary focus on endurance training while continuing to build upon stroke and racing technique. Swimmers will being to learn how to set attainable goals and the steps needed to achieve them. Swimmers will be introduced to dry-land training with a focus on core stability, flexibility, and injury prevention.

   Practices Offered: 5 per week

   Suggested Attendance: 3-4 per typical week

JUNIOR ELITE

Ages 11-14

The Junior Elite Group is designed for swimmers with a serious commitment to competitive swimming who wish to prepare themselves for the top training group. Training will have a balanced emphasis on conditioning, competitive racing, and stroke mechanics. Swimmers will be introduced to dry-land training with a focus on core stability, flexibility, and injury prevention. Coaches will help foster a swimmer’s competitive mindset in order to succeed and improve in the sport. Placement into this group will require coaches approval.  Swimmers who wish to be placed into this group should have “A” USA Swimming Single Age Motivational Times in at least two different events.

   Practices Offered: 5 per week

   Required Attendance: 75% average


SENIORS

Ages 15-18

The Senior Group is designed for swimmers that enjoy the sport and aim to be competitive on a local level. Training will be primarily endurance based with helpful stroke instruction and a focus on refining racing techniques. Coaches will assist the swimmers in goal setting with an encouragement to move into the Senior Elite Group if desired. Swimmers will continue to build on dry-land training with a focus on core stability, flexibility, and injury prevention.

   Practices Offered: 6 per week

   Suggested Attendance: 4-5 per typical week


SENIOR ELITE

Ages 15-19

The Senior Elite Group is the top training group in the program. The group is designed for swimmers that aspire to reach the highest levels of competitive swimming. Training will be primarily conditioning based with an emphasis on competitive racing, while also focusing on proper mechanics and individualized stroke guidance. Dry-land training will be heavily incorporated into the program with an emphasis on core stability, flexibility, and injury prevention. Coaches will discuss goal setting, proper nutrition, and time management to develop a well-rounded athlete. Placement into this group will require coaches’ approval.  Swimmers who wish to be placed in this group should have Middle Atlantic Senior Championship Qualifying Times in at least two different events.

   Practices Offered: 8 per week

   Required Attendance: 80% average
